In this video, we’ll teach you everything you need to know about the steel Ultra-Twin IBC Spill Pallet, designed to be more compatible with aggressive chemicals and chlorinated solvents. Note that our training videos are mostly designed to help our distributors better understand our products but can also be helpful to users of the products, as well.
TRANSCRIPT:
Hello and welcome to another UltraTech product training session. Today, we’re talking about the Ultra-Twin IBC Spill Pallet. But not just ANY Twin IBC Spill Pallet. No, today we’re talking about the STEEL twin IBC Spill Pallet (ooooh ahhhh)
The steel twin IBC spill pallet is, as you might guess, a steel spill containment pallet for two intermediate bulk containers or IBCs for short.
IBCs are used for storage of chemicals similarly to 55-gallon drums, just on a larger scale. So in order to capture spills from these larger containers, this IBC Spill Pallet has a containment capacity of 370 gallons. That means it will comply with EPA spill containment regulations for up to and including 370 gallon totes.
Now, you may be wondering how a 370-gallon sump meets the regulations for two tanks that, at a minimum usually have 275 gallons. And if you are, you’re not alone. That’s a great question. But rather than taking the time to explain it here, I’m going to add a link below to a different video that explains the regs in detail.
An 18” overall height puts spouts at a good height for dispensing and keeps the tank at a reasonable level for maintenance, inspection, and handling.
The Ultra-Twin IBC Spill Pallet, Steel Model has 4-way forklift access so it can be easily moved by forklifts or pallet jacks.
Removable grating make accessing the sump, for clean up or inspection a fairly quick and easy process
So, why would you choose this IBC Spill Pallet instead of one of the others?
More than likely it would be because it is being used for storage of flammables. Steel spill pallets have a very distinct advantage over its polyethylene counterparts, and that is the ability to withstand fire and extremely high temperatures.
Why wouldn’t you choose the Twin IBC Spill Pallet? Probably chemical compatibility. Polyethylene has a broader range of chemicals that it is compatible with compared to steel.
Other products to consider? As mentioned above, we do have a polyethylene version of this product and that would be the Ultra-Twin IBC Spill Pallet. It has a large, 535 gallon sump and can handle up to 8,000 pounds on each side. If covered containment is what you’re looking for, we also have the Twin IBC Hard Top. The galvanized steel construction and lockable doors make it the perfect solution for storing flammables outdoors or in areas that require controlled access.
There are links below to both of these products should you care to look into them further.
