Our original Ultra-Hard Top Gull Wing model consists of all-polyethylene construction, a heavy-duty steel cover lift assembly, and removable deck grates making it a perfect fit for any outdoor spill containment application, including satellite waste collection.
TRANSCRIPT:
The purpose of these products is to provide outdoor spill containment, usually for 55-gallon drums. The Hard Tops have a lot in common with the regular spill pallets. In fact, the Hard Tops are simply a regular spill pallet with the addition of molded, custom fit tops to keep out the elements.
We have several different options for outdoor spill containment but in this session, we will focus on the very first Hard Tops that we introduced. These are sometimes referred to as the gull-wing Hard Tops since they are the only ones that have doors that open out instead of a roll-top style that we will discuss in other videos.
As I mentioned before these units use the regular spill pallets as their base. If you look closely, you’ll notice that the Hard Top P2 uses the standard 2-drum spill pallet as its base and the Hard Top P4 uses the 4-drum version as its base.
These units are available with or without a drain. I discuss drains in more detail in the Spill Pallet video so I won’t cover that here since the information is exactly the same. But there’s a link to that video in the comments section below.
The Hard Top P2 is rated for a 3,000 pound uniformly distributed load and has a containment capacity of 66 gallons.
The Hard Top P4 is rated for 6,000 lbs. and also has a containment capacity of 66 gallons.
The 66-gallon capacity of these units meets the requirements for the EPA and SPCC spill containment regulations.
The P4 has two separate covers that open independently. This is convenient because it means all the drums inside are easily accessed.
The P4 also has an optional ramp. This is helpful for the loading and unloading of drums, especially when a forklift or other specialized handling equipment is not available. It should be noted that there is no ramp available for the Hard Top P2. With a deck height of 16 1/2″, a ramp would have to be very long to create an incline that would be safe for heavy drum handling.
The Hard Tops can be moved with a forklift or pallet jack. The Hard Top P2 is accessible from 2 sides and the P4 is accessible from all four sides. Both models have removable grating to make cleanup easier.
The Ultra-Hard Tops come with pre-installed cover lift assemblies that allow the covers to be locked in the open position. This makes it much easier to access the drums for pumping or dispensing or when they need to be removed or changed out. These cover lift assemblies also allow the units to be secured. A standard padlock can be used to lock the unit down and prevent theft or tampering.
Ultra-Hard Tops are made with a UV inhibitor as are all of our polyethylene products. This ensures a long outdoor service life in the sun and other elements.
The Hard Tops are also among the many products that are covered by our 5-year warranty. This is the industry’s strongest warranty and protects against any material or workmanship defects. You can find out all the details about the warranty by visiting the support section of our website.
Well, I hope that this session proved to be valuable to you and that you now better understand the Ultra-Hard Tops.
